In the 26th Velvi Discourse Gurumahan Says: Brahman Knowledge Is the Journey Back to Your True Home.

Only one in a billion people may attain the supreme knowledge of Brahman. No matter how hard we try or where we are in life, very few are able to reach this state.

Many people have wonderful experiences during the Velvi, and their lives can change remarkably within just 40 minutes. But these changes can truly be understood only when we ask them about their experiences.

Why should I change? Why should I change my present state? I have already moved beyond it. It is enough if I am given another birth.

But do we really want another birth? If we are born again for the sake of yoga and spiritual growth, we have already left many things behind. Yet we do not even remember our previous births. Is this our final birth? How many more births will there be? We do not know.

So, does it matter how many births we take? Who can give us a complete account of every birth? And why do we need to know? We are so absorbed in the pleasures of this life. The food is enjoyable, the sights are beautiful, and life offers us countless experiences. When everything seems enjoyable, why would we think about the next stage?

But is there something beyond all this? Yes. We have to be willing to let go of everything and move forward. Are we truly ready to give up what we have? Most of us are not. We continue to hold on to our desires and attachments. Then how can we move to the next stage?

That is why supreme knowledge is so difficult to attain. Even the great goddesses, according to the Puranas, are said not to have easily attained this supreme knowledge.

The Divine itself is said to remind us that if everyone attained supreme knowledge, they might withdraw from worldly responsibilities and become completely absorbed in the higher state. Therefore, spiritual wisdom must arise along with the right understanding of our duties.

When difficulties arise, we must make an effort. But what are we truly seeking through that effort? What are we trying to know and achieve?

We may go to a beautiful place, enjoy a waterfall, take a refreshing bath, eat delicious food during a festival, and return home happily. We may say, “We went there, we experienced it, and we enjoyed it.” But what is the real benefit of Brahman knowledge? What is the benefit of Atman knowledge? What is the benefit of true wisdom?

We usually want a result from everything we do. We ask, “What will I gain from this?” But Brahman knowledge is not about gaining something external. It is about discovering our own true nature.

Sometimes we look at the actions of a wise person and think, “I can do that too.” If he raises one hand, I can raise both hands. If he gives someone something, I can give something too. We imitate the outer actions without understanding the inner state from which those actions arise.

The actions, thoughts, and words of a true sage do not arise from ego or selfishness. There is no selfish motive behind them. That is what makes a person truly wise.

This is the power of Brahman knowledge. Within just 40 minutes of meditation, many people experienced remarkable inner changes. For some, the 40 minutes felt like only a minute.

Of course, when the physical body is not healthy, it can become difficult to move beyond bodily awareness. That is why physical health is the first foundation of spiritual practice. For those who sincerely pursue Kundalini Yoga, maintaining a healthy body is especially important.

Only when the body is healthy can we progress beyond it. If the body itself is constantly troubled, it becomes difficult to experience anything deeper.

That is why yoga first teaches us to regulate and strengthen the body through asanas. Once the body is prepared, we are guided through the different stages of turning inward.

Then comes the question: What is the use of Brahman knowledge? Do we really want to attain Brahman? Why do we seek it?

The path to Kaivalya, the ultimate state of liberation, is traditionally described as extremely difficult. Yet, through the path shown by Gnanavallal Paranjothi Mahan, this seemingly difficult journey can become simple and accessible.

After completing the practice, we know how to return to our own home. A small child may not know the way, but as we grow, we know exactly where our home is. We do not accidentally go to our neighbour’s house because we know where we belong.

In the same way, a person established in true knowledge knows their own inner home. There is no confusion about where to go.

Brahman knowledge is nothing other than the knowledge of our own true state of existence. It is the journey of the living being back to its own source, its own inner home.

That is the essence of Brahman knowledge: to know who we truly are and return to our own eternal state of being.
