In the 24th Velvi discourse, Gurumahan unveils the timeless mystery of creation, revealing how the Primordial Source, the Self-luminous Shiva Jyoti resting in supreme stillness before the birth of the Universe, manifested as the countless lights that make up all of existence.
Before the Universe came into existence, it existed in absolute stillness, supreme peace.
Within that infinite peace, there was only one Life. If we are all individual souls, then every one of these individual souls has emerged from that One Infinite Life. The entire Universe is now filled with waves of consciousness and vibrations of pulsating energy. But before these waves of vibration arose, the Universe rested in profound silence. The one and only Reality that existed in that supreme stillness is the Primordial Source, the Supreme Truth (Meipporul).
This Supreme Reality remained completely absorbed within itself, resting in perfect stillness. That is why we call it Shiva. That is why we also call it the Shiva Jyoti. It is the Self-luminous Reality. Yet, in that state of absolute peace, its radiance remained unmanifest, hidden within itself. Consider a simple matchstick made in Sivakasi. Fire is already present within it, but it remains dormant. When the right conditions arise, a bright flame emerges from it. Now consider a firework. What exists within it? It carries the inherent potential and intention to express many different colours. When the right conditions are created, the colour that is meant to appear manifests accordingly. If it is designed to produce green, green light emerges. If it is designed to produce yellow, yellow light appears.
Likewise, every object possesses its own vibration and intrinsic awareness. Think of a sparkler. The moment it is ignited, countless sparks burst forth. In the same way, the entire Universe emerged like innumerable sparks from the Primordial Fire, even though everything had already existed in an unmanifest state within it. Similarly, when a firework rises upward and explodes into a magnificent display of many colours, it offers a glimpse of the emergence of the Universe.
That is why the Universe originated from one Infinite Light. The countless radiant sparks that emerged from that Eternal Flame are this entire Universe. Therefore, everything that has arisen from that Divine Light is itself a light. That Primordial Source is the Divine. Therefore, everything born from the Divine is, by its very nature, Divine.
