In the 13th Velvi Discourse, Gurumahan teaches that love is the greatest wealth and what comes through love truly benefits life, while what comes through conflict brings no real blessing. Gurumahan emphasizes to be grateful to your parents, seek the Guru’s grace, and let your wisdom grow into kindness.

First, whom should you be loving? Be loving towards your mother and father. You say “thanks” even to someone who shows you the way to a place. Your mother carried you for ten months, turned her own blood into milk, and raised you without caring about flies or mosquitoes. Your father works day and night, through sun and rain, thinking, “Let my son be well, let my daughter be well,” and raises you with that wish. To such a mother and father, offer your thanks.
What do you expect from the Guru? Why have you all gathered here? Tell me, only love, right? Do you want anything else? Love. What do you ask from God? If His grace is there, that is enough. In the same way, what do you need from your mother and father? Love is enough.
You may not receive property, that is fine. Even if you do not give me property father, it is okay; your love is enough. If that love is there, it is enough. If a father lovingly wishes to give you ten lakhs, you will receive even more than twenty lakhs. But if you fight, argue, demand your share, and say, “I am your own child, give me my part or I will take you to court,” then even if you get fifty lakhs, it will not benefit you. Why? Did it come from your father’s love? No, it came from a curse. Anything that comes from a curse will not be useful. So, love your parents.
Why did the Guru receive blessings from His mother? Whatever the Guru does, you must also do. You must follow it.
In the North, wherever you see, no matter who comes into a home whether a king, a mendicant, or a beggar people follow “Atithi Devo Bhava” (the guest is God). Someone may be a great judge, a collector, or a powerful political leader outside, but when they enter the house, they bow in humility. One must have humility and reverence.
As a person’s knowledge rises, love must increase. That is why love, love, love. Without love, nothing exists in this world. As knowledge expands, love must grow. What do we do with knowledge? We interact. Then what do we do? We travel quickly from place to place from here to California, from there to Australia, then to Europe. Why do we go? Not for nothing, but to share love, to spread love.
