Santhosam Podcast: Guiding Light of Spiritual Wisdom

Is Sathya Yuga the Guru’s Work — or Everyone’s Responsibility? | சத்யயுகம் குருவின் பொறுப்பா… அல்லது நம் எல்லாருடைய பொறுப்பா?

Santhosam Season 9 Episode 1

In 1999, Gurumahan spoke about living in the path of Dharma with faith in thy Self for Satya Yuga to arise. He emphasized that this is not the responsibility of the Guru alone, but a collective effort that each one of us must consciously uphold.

Gurumahan : This year, I wondered whether Velvi was really necessary, or whether I could go to abroad, complete it there, and return. Perhaps it was the result of your deep longing, that even today, a situation has arisen for this Holy Penance to begin here.
Usually, we start every year on the first Monday of the Tamil month of Margazhi, which falls on December 16. But this year, we are starting on the fourth Monday of Margazhi. When we looked at the end date as January 9, it came to exactly 21 days.
Why 21 days? When we first sat for 1st Velvi, it was 21 days. The first penance lasted 21 days. This is the ninth Velvi, and it also lasts 21 days. In other years, the count was not 21 days, it was 23, 25, and other numbers. This clearly shows that something is guiding us.
Therefore, this Velvi is said to be the last of this century. Strictly speaking, if we say “the last of the century,” the next year 2000 is actually the end of the century. Many people asked me, “Guru, 1999 is ending and 2000 is coming. We say we will protect world welfare and world peace and establish Satya Yuga by the year 2000. How many days do we really have left? Can we achieve this within that time? If not, people will question us. What does ‘by 2000’ really mean?”
If I say, “I will pay the money by the 30th,” it means I will pay by the evening of the 30th not before the 29th. In the same way, saying “by 2000” means before the year 2001 begins.
Who will do this work? If Guru does it and you just stand and watch, that will not work. We all must do it together. How do we do it? If each one of us lives with complete faith in God and follows the path of dharma, each of us can become a truthful person.
So far, we have lived somehow and moved on. From this year onward, no, from this very moment, from December 19 to January 9 for these 21 days, do not lie deliberately. Lawyers, please do not misunderstand me. This is a discipline of dharma.
If you are truly firm in this practice, then even if you have to go from court to court, go ahead and do it. Because today, debate means winning through speech. It is no longer about justice. Courts today do not deliver justice; they deliver verdicts. A verdict means, “You did this much, you deserve this much.” That is judgment, not justice.
In earlier times, kings delivered justice. Today, courts give decisions, not justice. Justice does not submit to anything. Justice stands against injustice.
If you truly observe these 21 days, you will understand this truth: even if you travel all over the world, the state we attain here sitting in penance and merging with this magnificent universe is extremely rare. Very rare indeed.
