Today we can speak through the telephone, can’t we? As soon as these radio waves were discovered by Scientist Marconi, his father would always say, “The Supreme Father who dwells in the supreme realm.” Marconi teased his father "The Supreme One is in that higher realm, while you are here below, if you speak here, will that sound reach Him there?” But when Marconi realized through science that if radio waves can carry a voice thousands of miles away, then truly, my father can call upon the Supreme Father in the supreme realm, surely He must hear it there. Through the very science discovered by that scientist, one comes to believe that there is indeed a Supreme Reality.
Therefore, any knowledge that does not serve science is of no use. And so, what must you do in this birth? You must pass the test. And what is the only way? To uplift you! Even if you have not studied, what can be done? You must be made to study. That is why, whether you practice meditation or not, one day you must come. Somehow, you must rise higher. You must be made to realize the Supreme Reality within you. For this reason, at least among us, we must perform this Holy penance and make you attempt it. Nothing is impossible if one tries.
Faith in the Guru is unshakable. First, it is not even about faith in Guru, it begins with faith in the Self. If you have faith in the Guru, can you sit here? The Guru will perform penance for our sake and depart. If you receive His blessing, that alone is enough to live a worldly life with riches and blessings. To bow before Guru and receive His blessing, that alone is sufficient to attain wealth, harmony, and many forms of prosperity. All the worldly riches needed can be obtained thereby. But if one seeks āmūkam—that is, the state beyond birth, the state of the liberated soul (jīvan mukta)—then one must follow the path shown by the Guru.
Every human being must realize the Self. Only then can he uplift others. A wife cannot grant liberation to her husband, nor a husband to his wife, nor parents to their children, nor children to their parents, nor a king to his subjects, nor subjects to their king. No one can bestow liberation upon another.
