When the Mind Learns to Serve the Soul — A Powerful Teaching from Gurumahan! | மனம் நம்மை ஆளாமல், ஆத்மாவிற்கு சேவை செய்யும் வழி - குருமகானின் ஆழ்ந்த ஞான உபதேசம்!

Santhosam Season 8 Episode 10

In the 8th Velvi, through a powerful ten-minute inner dialogue, Gurumahan gently guides the mind to remember its true role — not as the ruler of life, but as the humble servant and friend of the soul.

This is a mental practice. The mind itself causes both pleasure and pain. The mind enables us to experience the divine state and also to experience sensory perceptions. When you go beyond the senses and feel the divine vibration (MeiUnarvu) within you, you realize how wonderfully God has gifted you with this mind. The mind is full of love, filled with energy, capable of knowing everything, calm by nature, and a place where bliss resides.
My dear ones, now gently turn your mind inward. Sit comfortably, close your eyes, withdraw from external scenes, and feel how powerful your mind truly is. Bring your mind to the space between the eyebrows and observe it. Say to your mind: “Dear mind, come into a peaceful state. Deep inner mind, do you know who you are? You are a mind that seeks peace and bliss. For whom do you seek this peace and bliss? You seek it for the soul. You are a good friend to the soul, and you exist to serve it.”
Just as a worker stays loyal to an employer, a child stays dear to a mother, a disciple stays devoted to a guru, in the same way, mind, you exist for the sake of Atma. Through this physical body, you see through the eyes, hear through the ears, smell through the nose, taste through the tongue, and experience heat, warmth, cold, and other sensations through the body. All these experiences happen through the mind. The body itself knows nothing; when the mind gives a command, the body obeys.
People do not call a body good or bad. They judge a person based on the qualities of the mind. Mind, you know what is good and what is bad. You have learned through experience. When you eat wrong food and suffer stomach pain, you know not to repeat it. If you continue to seek pleasure through the senses, you only increase suffering.
So, dear mind, do not wander. Stay calmly in your rightful place, the space between the eyebrows. There, you can clearly think and decide what is good, what is bad, what should be done, and what should not be done. Lasting joy and supreme bliss do not exist in the senses. They arise only from realizing the Atma.
When you desire external objects, you lose peace. Desire turns into greed, greed into anger, anger into jealousy, and jealousy into deceit. Mind, you come from the all-powerful Supreme Being. You are a companion and a friend of the Atma. When this is so, should you wander into unnecessary paths?
Dear mind, are you listening to what I say?
