Santhosam Season 8 Episode 5

In the 8th Velvi (1998), Gurumahan affirms that Holy Penance redeems even wrong-doers through unseen grace.

Human beings possess the power and essence of the all-powerful Supreme ParaBrahmam. When they forget their true nature and stop seeing themselves as human, they begin to identify themselves with animal desires. At that moment, they develop selfish qualities and act only for their own pleasure. Such behavior ruins family, society, the nation, and even the world. The Bhagavad Gita says that whenever these destructive qualities rise, the Divine takes birth to protect the good and restrain harmful forces. But this Kali Yuga is different. The purpose of this life is not to destroy those who do wrong, but to help them realize the truth. Even within those who act wrongly, Atma exists. Therefore, we do not hate people; we hate only the bad qualities within them. When a child comes home covered in mud, we remove the dirt, not the child. In the same way, everyone is a part of the Supreme. Those who realize this truth live with peace and joy and learn to accept whatever happens in the world.
I perform every Velvi (Holy Penance) with the hope that disciples who follow the Guru will attain this inner maturity. Wherever people gather, a festival naturally forms. Universal Peace Foundation (UPF, Thirumoorththi Hills) already celebrates three major occasions: the Paranjothi Gnanavallal Mahaan's Jayanti(May 2),  the day Gurupiraan attained enlightenment (Jnana Udaya Day), celebrated as Global Peace Day,(Nov 11) and the day Gurupiraan merged from the physical body into the universe, celebrated as Guru Udaya Day.(Jan 7)
Beyond these celebrations, people lit the first Velvi at Bhavani to unite all humanity with divine vibration (MeiUnarvu). The disciples of the Bhavani Kumarapalayam region and the International disciples conducted it with great dedication and success. Therefore, whenever the Velvi begins and whenever it concludes, we offer them heartfelt blessings and good wishes.
The Puranas say that through yajna, the Divine expresses its power, and that the Divine itself exists as the Yajna Purusha. A yajna is a holy act. But it does not purify the Guru, because the Guru is already pure. A true Guru does not perform rituals every year to remove sins. Still, loving disciples may feel and think this way.
When a child suffers from illness or mental pain, a mother prays to God and says, “Please protect my child. I will shave my head at your temple and observe fasting.” In the same way, many people who receive the rare opportunity to realize the Ultimate Truth remain unaware of the divinity within themselves. Those who should establish truth and righteousness at the end of Kali Yuga still fall into mistakes.
The all-powerful Divine knows that people commit sins without understanding their actions. Even if someone teaches them again and again, true realization comes only when the time is right. If punishment must occur, the results of their actions will surely take place in this world. For that purpose, I perform this Velvi for as many days as necessary without food, without sleep, and withdrawn from worldly relationships to uplift everyone.
