Santhosam Podcast: Guiding Light of Spiritual Wisdom
4th VELVI(1994) - What inner state of humanity gives birth to 64 Great arts—and what must we rediscover to let them arise again? 64 ஆயக்கலைகளைப் பிறப்பித்த மனிதகுலத்தின் உள்நிலை எது— அதை மீண்டும் எவ்வாறு மலரச் செய்வது?
What kind of arts did the people of Tamil Nadu possess? Nowhere else in the world do we find so many arts. But it is this sacred land that gave birth to all the sixty‑four divine arts. If sixty‑four arts flourished here, what must the people have been like? Only when people live in joy, eat well, and enjoy abundance do the arts blossom. Art emerges from the depths of the mind. If all sixty‑four arts existed in this sacred land, imagine how noble the people must have been, and how just and righteous the king who ruled this land must have been.
That is why the people of this land excelled in every field—art, culture, language, literature, ethics, politics, and spirituality. During the transition of the Kali age, the rulers of Tamil Nadu worked with the intention that people should regain their lost virtues and forgotten arts. Why should such greatness not happen again in this age?
To revive and honour the sixty‑four arts, we needed a sacred place. After searching everywhere, one day during meditation the name “Thirimurthi Malai” appeared. When I asked whether it was Thirimurthi or Thirumurti, they said it was Thirumurti. I said, “No, it must be Thirimurthi Malai. Bring me proof.” Only then did we discover that it was indeed Thirimurthi Malai which was later called Thirumoorthi Malai.
What is special about this place? Not only the Trimurti (Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva), but many great sages have performed miracles and austerities here. That inner intuition is what brought me here. I had never seen this place before. I told my disciples, “This is the place. Please go and see it.” They said "Guruji we did not know whether such a place existed". I insisted, “It must be there. Go and see.” They went, and good people supported the effort. Many others had asked for this land, but the owners said, “This place is meant only for you.”
Thus this sacred land was given to us. From this land, which is called the Southern Kailash, the sixty‑four arts once flourished. During the wedding of Parvati and Shiva, when all beings went to Kailash, the northern side of Kailash tilted slightly. To restore balance, someone had to go to the southern region. They chose the short sage, Agastya, and sent him to the South. Because he came, balance was restored.
The world must regain balance. From this balanced state, the world will again find harmony. In joy and sorrow, praise and blame, likes and dislikes—people must learn to remain equal‑minded, filled with love, brotherhood, equality, happiness, and peace. For this purpose, this place was chosen. Let all who live here unite and uplift Tamil Nadu. Let us uplift Bharat.
By the year 1997, India will become a great superpower. How? Because it is advancing in industry and technology. In research centres in America, out of every ten scientists, three are Indians. Not only there—people from here shine as scholars and intellectuals all over the world. If all their knowledge is directed back to this land of Bharat, why should India not rise to the highest rank among world powers?
Though we belong to many races and religions, we are all children of one Mother. There is only one caste—the human caste. There is only one God. He is the same for all. He is everywhere. He is within us. Temples exist to remind us of the divinity within, not to satisfy personal wishes but to uplift the world. This land must rise again—spiritually, economically, scientifically, and artistically—and guide the world with truth. Live with love wherever you go, and let that love spread from you to everyone.
