5thVelvi(1995)-What is the ‘blank cheque’ the Guru gives, and how do we use it? குரு வழங்கும் "Blank Cheque"என்பது என்ன? அதை நாம் எவ்வாறு பயன்படுத்த வேண்டும்?

Santhosam Season 5 Episode 19

We are born not to receive, but to give.
Already, all has been given. We have asked, and it has been granted. What more remains to ask?
Disciples approach the Guru: “Who am I? What wealth do I possess? Give me my share.”
But what wealth is there to divide? The Guru has already revealed the treasure at the root.

It is like a cheque—a blank cheque. What will you do with it? Doubt arises: “Is this real? Is there an account behind it?” The Guru Himself is zero; He will not go to the bank. Even with the cheque in hand, it is useless unless you trust.

Some place a little faith, like depositing a hundred rupees. If they return empty-handed, they complain nothing has happened. Yet even a small measure of trust yields fruit. One asks for ten thousand, another for a lakh, another for a crore. Is it not possible? Whatever is truly asked, that boon is granted.

This cheque is Ajna Chakra, the space between the eyes. Whatever is asked there, is received.

A disciple once prayed: “Let me study well.” And it was granted. Later he wondered: “If I had asked not merely to pass, but to be first in the state, would that too have been given?” Yes, it would have been. Another prayed: “I am burdened with debts. Grant me livelihood to clear them.” And income came, enough to pay the debts—but no more. Why? Because he asked only for relief, not abundance. He received exactly what he sought.

Thus, asking is one stage. But there is another way—like asking a mother. A child says: “Mother, I am hungry.” The mother already knows when hunger will come. She prepares food at the right time, not at midnight. Her heart pours forth milk, the natural gift of love. Yet today, many pour forth only alcohol.

See the earth itself—she is the greatest example of love. Yet even Her love has diminished. Why do you seek Gurus everywhere? For peace, for love. But is this not meant to be found at home? Scripture declares: “Domestic life is an illusion”.

Look at the sages. Were they without family? Christ did not marry, yet he preached for householders. Adi Shankara struggled for householders. Buddha renounced his home, yet his teachings were for the people. Renunciation is not escape. It is hardship undertaken to wipe away the sorrows of others. Its purpose is compassion.

Therefore, we need not abandon everything. What is required is discernment, clarity, wise choice. All of this is already within us. Yet we leave it unused—like a blank cheque. The brain itself is that cheque. Do we ever draw upon it fully? Rarely. Only after scratching, scraping, knocking, does something pour forth. Like in an exam hall—after handing in the paper, suddenly the answers come. Too late. So it is with us all.

In penance, seekers write daily of their wondrous experiences. Even householders share their revelations. How did these come? Was food promised? Was mantra alone enough? No. It came because many joined together, teachers explained, guides showed the way. Through collective effort, the fruit was received.
