How Self confidence can alone help you to reach God | உன்னை நம்பினால் மட்டுமே இறைவனை அடையமுடியும்

At the time of death, simply calling out ‘Shankara’ won’t bring God to you. It’s important to cultivate the habit of worshipping God well before that moment. From a young age, we need to understand the proper path to reach the divine. That’s why our elders encouraged us to practice devotion and taught us to seek God through love. After that, one should explore ways to connect with God through righteous actions, and also learn the path of knowledge and wisdom. Thus, devotion (bhakti), righteous deeds (karma), and spiritual wisdom (jnana) are all vital for a person’s spiritual growth.
What we are referring to here is a path that blends love, knowledge, and strength — known as Ashtanga Yoga.
On this path, we lovingly call upon God, who is present everywhere. This omnipresent God also dwells within each of us — a truth exemplified in the story of Prahlada.

Prahlada was a young prince and devoted follower of Lord Vishnu. His father, the demon king Hiranyakashipu, despised Vishnu and insisted that everyone worship only him. Yet Prahlada’s unwavering faith in Vishnu, even from childhood, was based on the belief that God exists everywhere, including within himself.
Despite facing many threats and punishments from his father, Prahlada remained steadfast in his devotion. When Hiranyakashipu questioned whether Vishnu was present in a pillar, Prahlada affirmed it was so. To protect Prahlada, Vishnu appeared from the pillar in the form of Narasimha, the half-man, half-lion incarnation, and defeated the demon king.

This story teaches us that God is present everywhere — in a pillar or even in the smallest particle. If God can reside in a pillar, He surely lives within us too.
When we regard a stone as God, it becomes worthy of our faith. If we see it only as a stone, then it remains just that. Viewing an object as divine and worshipping it can strengthen our faith and inner resolve. But where does this faith actually reside? It exists within ourselves. This inner faith is what we call self-confidence. Without it, one cannot thrive in the world. Those who reject themselves end up rejecting God; denying God is the same as denying one’s own self. Conversely, one who trusts in God also trusts in themselves, and one who trusts themselves also believes in God.

A true yogi does not distinguish between themselves and God. They believe that the divine energy present everywhere is also within them, and they strive to realize this power. This is the essence of yoga — union. With dedicated effort and practice, one can perceive and experience the divine force within. The Vedas, sacred scriptures, are the records of those who have attained this realization through experience. Therefore, we must place our faith in the Vedas. Those who have faith are never abandoned.
