How Does Following a Guru Lead to Divine Realization | குருவை பின்பற்றுவதால் எப்படி இறை நிலை அடைய முடியும்

If we want to reach a noble and elevated state in life, we need a Guru (spiritual teacher or guide). When we travel from one place to another, we see signboards guiding us. Only if we trust those signboards can we reach our destination. In the same way, we place our trust and faith in the Guru.

Why do we believe in a Guru? Everything we need is given to us by the universal energy. To attain that universal energy, we must trust someone who has already realized and experienced it. By listening to their words and following their path, we can surely reach our destined goal.

For example, if one aspires to become a sportsman or sportswoman, true success can be achieved only by following the guidance of someone who is already experienced and accomplished in that field. Similarly, we worship both the Almighty and the Guru who helps us reach that divine state.

The faith and respect we place in something is what truly protects and guides us. If a person becomes arrogant and proud, thinking he is superior in everything and that others are beneath him, such an attitude will only bring harm both to him and to society. Above all, there is always something greater. One must realize that even the most powerful has someone more powerful above him.

Attaining the divine state is the ultimate purpose of human birth. A true guide who leads us toward that divine state is the Guru. Therefore, when we listen to the words of the Guru and offer our reverence to him, we are, in fact, progressing toward that higher state.
The Guru and God are not separate. The one who has attained the divine state is the Guru. Therefore, when we see the Guru—who has realized that divine state—as sacred and as God Himself, and follow him with devotion, we too can attain that divine state.
