Thirumandhiram 1st line: "மலையார் சிரத்திடை வானீர் அருவி"

Meru or Giri means mountain. Sivagiri means the mountain where Lord Shiva resides.

Just as the Shakti that resides on the left side of Siva is what manifests as the Ganga at the top of His (Lord Shiva) head;

 For our bodies, the head is the most important part which serves as the mountain, and at the crown (the peak of head), the energy descending from the universe enters through.

Thirumandhiram 2nd line : "நிலையாரப் பாயும் நெடுநாடி யூடே"

Just like water flows down from the top of a waterfall, the pure universal energy—like the holy Ganga coming from the sky—flows through the top of our head and travels down through the central channel (nadu naadi) all the way to the base, the Muladhara.

The great waterfall (Universal Energy) that flows down from the crown to the muladhara becomes a mighty river and it splits into tributaries—72,000 naadis in our bodies. Eventually, they all flow into the sea, meeting and merging at the junction point (Muchandhi) of the three main naadis at the third eye chakra.

The muchandhi (junction) at the third eye is called Triveni Sangamam where Triveni means three rivers and Sangamam means the merging point. Similar to Bhavani river which is the Southern Prayag, the Northern Prayag is the confluence of three rivers: Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati. Taking a holy dip there washes away all accumulated sins. It means that our karmic actions will no longer follow us, we will have no debts, and there will be no more rebirth.

This refers that when a person meditates at the third eye centre, it dissolves all the karmic actions performed by the soul and is freed from the cycle of birth.

The endless universal energy keeps dancing all the way down as it flows till the muladhara. Thirumoolar recites that while the energy flows he witnessed the ‘Ananda Jyothi’ (Light of Bliss) deep inside, as mentioned in the Thirumandhiram.
